The Synology system also has a variety of clients including the Windows Client (shown below), IOS, Android and also has EASY integration with Home Assistant.Ĭheck out the video below for a full run down on my system, how I use it and how to get it all configured.

For the bedroom TV, I have this application as the screensaver so when the TV is idle, the front camera shows as the screensaver. Once the cameras are set up with Synology and configured with the Roku app, you can then add them to any TV where you have a Roku streaming device. If you are able to get this working with your particular cameras, set up might be even easier. I tried to get the ONVIF to work with my Foscams but was unable to.

cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?usr=UserName&pwd=FakePassword&cmd=snapPicture2 Also in the video, there are a few other suggestions. I would recommend experimenting a bit with your cameras to figure out the correct link. It took me a while to figure out the correct MPEG link to use with my Foscam cameras. The set up was super easy with the exception of the URL link. I would recommend using the free version to make sure your individual cameras are supported.

The Pro version gives you the ability to use more than 1 camera. The Pro version is ($5 USD) but there is a free version as well.

The software on the Roku that I am using is the IP CAMERA VIEWER PRO. These are wireless cameras recording 24 hours, 7 days a week and storing 30 days of recordings to my Synology box which has two RAID 1 mirrors 3.6TB SATA drives. I have had three (soon to be four) Foscam IP cameras set up with a Synology Surveillance center for about 9 months now around the Smart Home and the set up has been fantastic. I’ve been meaning to get this accomplished for a while now. As we show in the video we can set a time interval of our choice to have the recorder upload snapshots in a few easy steps with a proper FTP server that is already configured.I am pretty excited for this post. Having correct credentials for your FTP server it is very easy to input the settings into the recorder. In the video below we show you how to upload images to FTP by configuring settings using the web interface of the recorder. How to upload image snapshots from your DVR or NVR Make sure your FTP server has proper ports open to allow proper data transfer at a sufficient speed for video or images to upload.Make sure the target folder or directory is the user's home directory.Make sure the user has read/write access to the target directory.

The prerequisite for this is that you have FTP enabled on your NAS and that you have dedicated user/password for an account on the FTP server with its home directory being the directory you would like the recorder to upload to. The videos below shows you how to configure settings for your FTP on our digital video recorders (both NVR or DVR) so you can commit live video backups via FTP.

They can not only be used to store your personal or business documents, pictures, and videos, but they can also be used as a redundant backup point for your security camera system. NAS storage devices are prevalent and relatively inexpensive these days.
